New Zealand Traveller Declaration Information

The New Zealand Traveller Declaration (NZTD) is a mandatory document for all passengers arriving in New Zealand.

The online New Zealand travel declaration facilitates both air and sea entries into Aotearoa New Zealand.

All air passengers can now complete the digital NZ Traveller Declaration in just a few minutes. Sea travelers aboard the following can also apply online:

  • Small craft
  • Commercial, specialist, and fishing vessels
  • Those with diplomatic clearance
  • New Zealand Defence Force ships.

It can also be used by cruise passengers who are taking part in a specific NZTD cruise ship trial.

To fill out the NZTD form, you need to declare your trip information, travel history, and any goods that may be subject to quarantine or duties. You then pay a fee to submit the New Zealand Traveller Declaration form for processing.

Once approved, you receive a copy of the Traveller Declaration for New Zealand by email. It’s also electronically linked to your passport, so there’s no need to print a copy.

Note: The NZTD is not a visa or travel authorization. We advise you to check if you need additional documentation, such as an Electronic Travel Authority for New Zealand, before your trip.
